My Learning Object is a storybook I created using Storybird. I hope to use this tool as an introductory means of teaching students the most basic thing they can gain from storytelling. I would read this book to students and hope that they could see the importance of literature through the story. It provides one example of how stories work, how they can transport us from the world we are living in. It provides multiple viewpoints. The students would use this as a basis of understanding what happens when they read, and I would use further lessons to explore with students how they interact with content, how this story and all reading works to enrich students minds.
I used the Storybird site because I thought it would be a tool that I could use to show my students how to make books. From this project I learned how to use Storybird in an effective way. I also found this particular assignment useful because prior to this I did not know what a learning object was, and I struggled with it a little bit. For me, realizing what a learning object was and contextualizing that was the most beneficial part of this assignment. Teachers could use this tool in any subject they felt could be made into a story. It would be best suited for art or literacy. Subjects like French or Drama could require the students to create an online story. Even math could require students to use numbers to create a story. This tool is useful for every subject.
