Genius Hour Movie Trailer

I created my Movie Trailer using Powtoon because I really like the tool. I felt that it would be beneficial to me to continue exploring Powtoon and how it works. I am happy with how my movie trailer turned out. I started it off by explaining why I chose the topic of literacy, which is because I am inspired by it personally. I explained that I wanted to see what it would take to encourage students to be inspired by literature and be encouraged to read once again. I wondered where the hesitation towards books came from. I explained how I would take on the task of inspiring students to read, using research, a book club, students personal experiences and opinions, investigate libraries and find out why they are not motivating students, providing the students with recommendations and appropriate literature, and being a positive role model that the students can come to, to talk about books. I explained that I started with the researching phase, using blogs and articles to see how other people were trying to get students to read for fun again. After that, I began working with the students and asking them their personal opinions. I tried to set up a bookclub for students to stay in at recess and talk about books. Overall, literacy prevailed, and the video ends with the question of how? because it is only the movie trailer, and you will have to watch the Ted Talk to find out how !!

I loved using Powtoon to make this movie trailer, after I made my first Powtoon I really wanted to try and improve my skills. I am happy with how this turned out. I will use this in my classes for sure. I would use Powtoon to teach any subject at all because it is a universal tool that can be applied to any topic.
